An incredible journey by bike from Prague to Berlin through North Bohemia, Czech and Saxon Switzerland, Dresden, Spreewald, and Potsdam all the way Brandenburg gate in Berlin.

On the way to Berlin we will not only be cycling but also hiking in the Czech Switzerland, sightseeing touring Dresden, canoeing in Spreewald, eating fine local food.

 

The route follows cycling paths and minor roads away from car traffic. All stages can be made shorter by jumping in the support van.

Do you want to share the ride?

This version could become semi-private if you wish. Which means that you could share the ride with other cyclists (max 8 pax). So you would have the price advantage of shared ride while keeping a high grade of privateness. If you are interested in this option just let us know and we will try to pair you with other like minded cyclist.

You only want van support?

Our “Premium Package” includes one guide in the van and one on the bike. We like to take great care of our clients and believe that a guide on the bike is essential for you to get the best our of your trip. But of course we understand if you would like to be alone with your partner or family. In this case we would just support you with the van and all the logistic and give you a professional Garmin gps with loaded tracks and a road book. In this case the price of the package would be also lower.

    Day by day

    DAY 1 - From Mělník to Litoměřice

    47 km / 0 mt elevation

     

    We pick you up at your hotel and start a short transfer by van to Melnik (40 minutes) we will start cycling north along the Elbe river. But before that, a visit to Melnik old town center is a must. Melnik lies at the confluence of the Elba and Vltava rivers and it is famous for its vineyard.  Later in the day, we will go through Terezin concentration camp that you can visit if you wish. Litomerice, our home for the night, it is a lovely little Bohemian town with a very well preserved old center.

    DAY 2 - From Litoměřice to Děčín

    52 km / 60 mt elevation

     

    We will start the day as every day using the cycling path along the river but today stage includes also some country roads and forests roads. You will be able to see beer hops farms and communist bunkers. We will have a nice deserved break at Strekov, a castle ruin on a cliff above the Elba river with a nice little cafe’ with a view. After enjoying the break we will follow the river which, at the end of today stage, will take us to Decin, gateway to the famous sandstone region of Czech Switzerland.

     

    DAY 3 - From Děčín to Dresden

    71 km / 110 mt elevation

     

    Today it will be a day full of things to see starting with Bastei rock bridge, high among the sandstone pillars, Konigstein castle and the town of Pirna. Slowly hills will change into fields and we will start to see the beautiful Dresden skyline slowly approaching while will enjoy the last km of our trip cycling along the river before we will eventually enter Dresden happy and tired.

     

    DAY 4 - Dresden – Meissen – Cottbus

    64 km / 100 mt elevation

     

    We will leave Dresden behind and start riding along the Elbe river once again. Here the landscape gets hilly again on both sides of the river and soon we will get to the stunning old town of Meissen. Straddling the Elbe around 25km upstream from Dresden, Meissen is the cradle of European porcelain manufacturing and an impressive old town with a soaring Gothic cathedral, fairy-tale-like castle, and wonderful Elbe valley views. The bike ride will alter continue until the landscape will get a flat. Time to jump on the van and transfer to the Unesco Biosphere of Spreewald, a nice contrast after a day in Dresden.

     

    DAY 5 - Cottbus – Lubbenau – Potsdam

    57.5 km / 0 mt elevation

     

    Today is all about riding in nature.  The Spreewald, also known as “the Green Venice”, represents a unique natural landscape with its extensive network of small rivers measuring around 970 km in length. The Spreewald Biosphere Reserve is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Old half-timbered houses and small island farmsteads stand on the natural waterways which are called “Fließe” in the Spreewald. After getting to the town of Lubben we will jump in the van for a short transfer to Potsdam.

     

    DAY 6 - Potsdam to Berlin

    Last day of the holiday. After visiting Sanssouci we will ride all the way into Berlin.

    We will end our ride at the hotel where you chose to spend your time in Berlin (not inlcuded)

    • Extra day in the Czech Switzerland National Park

     

    Spend one day hiking in one of the most beautiful national parks in Europe.

    90 millions years ago the nature was already at work for giving us the chance of a wonderful hiking experience in the landscape of sandstone rock “towns”, towers, walls, gorges and ravines .

    The first part of our journey will take us to Pravcicka Gate, the largest natural sandstone arch in Europe with a characteristic wooden chateaux made from oak bark with a little restaurant.

    Later we will descend to Kamenice river gorges for an unforgettable walk. In no time you will be surrounded by a wall of high rocks on both sides. We will walk beneath rock ledges, through several tunnels and across narrow footbridges. Twice, the only way to continue our journey will be by jumping on a boat driven by a ferryman who steers it with a pole, contributing to a even richer experience.

    • Extra day in Dresden

    A day in Dresden is a must! Lot of things to see both in the new and old town. You can explore the city on your own or with a guide. You can walk or use your bike to visit one of the many cafés in new town, drink a beer in a local pub or just enjoy the historical vibe of the old town.

     

    If you wish, we can take you for a bike tour of the off-the-beaten-path part of the city.

    Reservation

    Reservation, payment and cancellation

     

    To reserve the trip we ask 50% of the total price via bank transfer or cash.

     

    The remaining balance must be paid in cash or with credit card the day before the beginning of the trip or via bank transfer 12 days before the departure.

     

    No refund of the deposit if the tour is cancelled less then 31 days before the departure (working days).

     

    100 percent of the tour will be charged if the tour is cancelled less then 3 days before the departure.

    Our Prague to Berlin was one of the best cycling trips we’ve been on. Engaging, thoughtful and organized. Filippo guided us by bike along beautiful (mostly paved) paths for the most part, following rivers. Toby drove SAG and serviced the bikes and had snacks set out for us strategically along our route. They had us checked in with the bags in our rooms upon arrival every afternoon. They also took many photos along our route including video from a drone we have many great memories and a wonderful video.
